Hi everyone, it has been an awesome past two weeks. Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Summer Agriculture Institute. This is a week-long event where teachers come in to learn about different parts of the agricultural industry. On Monday, we started our day at the Ogle County Farm Bureau Office, where we heard industry representatives from Syngenta, Bayer, IL Corn Growers Association, and IL Beef Association. To end the day, we toured with Maplehurst Farms and Nordman Feedlot Inc. We had a busy and hot Tuesday. In the morning, we toured Hildebrant Dairy Farm, Vanlaar Fruit Farm, and had lunch at Edwards Apple Orchard. Later that afternoon, we visited Mueller Farm, where we heard from AWH equipment. Our day ended at the Wool and Fiber Mill. Wednesday, we toured Schnucks Grocery and the Edgebrook Farmers Market, where we listened to a small presentation from Raines Honey Farm. Later that afternoon, we toured Conserv FS and heard a presentation from Illinois Ag in the Classroom. Our final day, Thursday, we spent in Stephenson County learning from and visiting local businesses such as Deerland Dairy, Adkins Energy, a regenative beef farm and Generations Brewery. It was a great week learning about different industries in the area. If you’d like to see photos of our week visit the Stephenson County Ag in the Classroom Facebook Page.
In the office this week, I have had the opportunity to go to the YMCA Summer Camp on Tuesday and Thursday for a short presentation on dairy cows. My other time is spent working on the peach order! We are in week four of the peach sale! This year's price for members in good standing through August 31, 2022, is $42. The non-member price is $47. This year we are offering “Aunt Wesie’s Old Fashioned Cobbler Mix '' for $7.00. Orders are due to the Stephenson County Farm Bureau on July 22nd by 4:30 pm.
