It has been a busy and fun week at the Farm Bureau. I have been taking lots of peach orders. Peach order forms are due July 23rd. This year peaches are $40 for members and $45 for non-members. Peaches will be delivered to the Farm Bureau on August 4th. You can start picking up your peaches at 8am that day.
I have also helped mail out letters to local businesses to renew their participation in our Membership Value Program. We have sent letters to many businesses in the area that may want to participate as well. If you are a business that would like to participate by offering a discount to Farm Bureau members, please contact our office.
I am currently working on our blood drive, which will be held on June 19th at the Stephenson County Farm Bureau. We will be taking appointments from 8 am until noon. If you would like to donate, please call our office at (815) 232-3186 or visit RRVBC.org to setup your appointment. I have been calling many potential donors to set up their appointments. All donors will receive a carton of ice cream to take home with them. First time donors will receive a free pass to the Stephenson County Fair.
I have been working on grab and go ag bags for kids. Kids will be able to grab an ag bag, which will teach them about the dairy industry or plants. The dairy grab and go bag will have supplies for kids to make their own cow mask. The plant bag will have supplies for kids to start their own garden in a glove. Kids will be able to transplant their vegetable plants to a garden after their seeds sprout.
Each week during the month of June I will be sharing a dairy recipe.
