ACT NOW- Support the Farm Bill

Act NOW! Support the Farm Bill

On February 13, House Agriculture Committee Chairman "GT" Thompson released the text of his “Farm Bill 2.0,” updating key farm bill programs that have not been revised since 2018.

The House Agriculture Committee will mark up the bill on Monday, February 23. Key provisions include:

  • A legislative fix to Proposition 12
  • Improvements to standing disaster programs, including support for specialty crops
  • Additional refinements to dairy risk management tools advanced in H.R. 1
  • Increased funding for trade promotion programs such as MAP and FMD
  • Updated loan limits and expanded support for new, young, beginning, and veteran farmers
  • Expanded rural broadband access
  • Stronger reporting requirements to improve transparency of foreign-owned farmland

Farmers have lacked the certainty of a new farm bill since its expiration in 2023. It’s time to pass a modernized, five-year farm bill.
